Meet our Court Reporter, Ann Marie Allison!

During her college years, Ann Marie explored Accounting and Business for her potential careers. Unable to find her passion in either of those fields, she decided to follow in her mother’s footsteps and delve into court reporting! After graduating in 1996 from Court Reporting Institute in Seattle, she immediately obtained her CSR and RPR certifications. Her brief internship with Byers & Anderson (now B&A Litigation Services) quickly landed her a freelance position with the firm, and she was assigned to cover court hearings at Pierce County Juvenile Hall and Civil Commissioner Court.

At the turn of the century, Ann Marie applied for and was hired as a full-time official court reporter for Pierce County Superior Court, where she covered various criminal and civil trials over the next ten years.

In 2010, Ann Marie, along with her four-year-old daughter, migrated south to begin an officialship in Guilford County, North Carolina. She lived there four years, surrounded by four generations of her maternal family. In 2014, she returned to Tacoma, Washington, where she resumed officialship with Pierce County. By 2017, changes in the judicial environment prompted Ann Marie to revisit the freelance landscape, and she has come full circle in her career by rejoining B&A.

Today, she takes depositions for us on a daily basis. These can range from civil to criminal, virtual and in-person. She enjoys and appreciates the internal staff and videographers she gets to work with. She loves being able to work with a wide variety of clients.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, friends and her two cats, going for walks, playing tennis, listening to music, cooking, and eating out with her now teenage daughter, who is a big foodie!

Ann Marie loves court reporting and is looking forward to many more years in the field and then retiring to a white, sandy beach somewhere with a warm tropical breeze and blazing orange sunsets.
