At B&A Litigation Services, we provide professional site inspection videography services to visually document locations, conditions, and physical evidence relevant to litigation. Site inspections are often critical in cases involving accidents, premises liability, construction disputes, product liability, and complex factual investigations. Video preserves site conditions accurately so they can be reviewed long after access to the location is no longer possible.

B&A’s site inspection videography services help attorneys and their experts create a clear, reliable visual record that supports expert analysis and case preparation. The videographer on site is part of the same legal videography team that records the depositions where those experts later testify.

Purpose of Site Inspection Videography

Site inspections are frequently conducted early in a case, before conditions change due to repairs, environmental factors, or time. Videography allows attorneys and experts to capture the site as it exists at a specific moment, preserving critical details that may later become central to liability, causation, or damages.

Video documentation provides context that photographs alone may miss, including spatial relationships, movement through the site, lighting conditions, and lines of sight.

How an Inspection Runs

Counsel sets the scope, and the experts lead the walk-through. The videographer records continuously while the expert moves through the site, points out conditions and takes measurements, so the video shows what the expert saw and in what order. When both sides attend, the videographer records what happens without taking direction from either side beyond the agreed scope.

What Can Be Documented During a Site Inspection

B&A’s videographers work closely with counsel to document site conditions relevant to the case. Depending on the matter, site inspection videography may include:

  • Overall layout and surroundings
  • Points of entry and exit
  • Measurements and distances (as demonstrated on site)
  • Equipment, machinery, or vehicles
  • Surface conditions, signage, or obstructions
  • Environmental factors such as lighting or visibility
  • Walk-throughs conducted by experts or investigators

Our role is to accurately record what is present without interpretation or commentary.

Professional Videographers with Legal Experience

Site inspections require more than basic recording skills. B&A’s videographers are trained specifically for legal environments and understand how to document sites in a methodical, neutral, and professional manner.

They are experienced in filming in a wide range of environments, including construction sites, roadways, industrial facilities, commercial properties, and residential locations. Our videographers are mindful of safety considerations, access restrictions, and the need to work efficiently while on site.

Supporting Expert Review and Testimony

Site inspection videos are frequently used by experts for later analysis and testimony. A clear, comprehensive video record allows experts to revisit site conditions without repeated site visits and helps ensure consistency between inspection observations and later opinions.

Attorneys also rely on site inspection video when preparing for depositions, mediations, and trial, particularly when jurors or decision-makers will not have the opportunity to view the site in person.

Neutrality, Accuracy, and Chain of Custody

B&A’s role in site inspection videography is strictly to document conditions as they exist at the time of inspection. We do not analyze, interpret, or alter the recorded material. Our videographers maintain strict neutrality and adhere to professional standards to preserve the integrity of the visual record.

All recordings are handled securely and confidentially, with attention to chain-of-custody considerations when applicable.

Frequently asked questions

A site inspection is a scheduled visit to a location, vehicle or piece of equipment so counsel and experts can observe and document its condition. It usually includes a walk-through led by an expert, measurements, and photographs and video of the conditions at issue. The video records the full visit, so the inspection can be reviewed later without returning.

Counsel sets the scope and the experts lead the walk-through. The videographer records what they are shown and what they are asked to capture within that scope, and records continuously so nothing is selectively left out. The videographer does not interpret conditions, offer opinions or take a side when counsel for more than one party attends.

Video shows how the parts of a site relate to each other: distances, movement from one point to another, lighting, lines of sight and what can be seen from where. Photographs capture moments. A continuous video lets an expert, a mediator or a jury follow the route through the site in the order it was inspected.

As early as the parties can arrange access, and before repairs, weather or ongoing use change the conditions. Once a site is altered, what was there cannot be recorded again. If an inspection date is set on short notice, call us; last-minute and awkward dates are part of what our scheduling team does.
