Transcription or a Court Reporter?

Transcription starts from a recording that already exists. A deposition transcript starts with a certified court reporter who is present, swears the witness and certifies the record as it happens. If the testimony has not been taken yet, book a court reporter. If the recording is all there is, such as a hearing captured by a courtroom’s electronic recording system, a 911 call or a recorded interview, our transcriptionists turn it into a written record.

Transcription of Court and Hearing Recordings

B&A transcribes audio recordings from court proceedings and hearings when a verbatim written record is needed. These recordings may originate from electronic courtroom recording systems, remote hearings, or other official audio sources. (If you would rather have a reporter in the room for a future trial, see trial court reporting.)

Our transcriptionists are trained to handle challenging audio environments, including multiple speakers, rapid exchanges, overlapping dialogue, and varying audio quality. Each transcript is carefully reviewed to ensure accurate speaker identification, proper formatting, and faithful representation of the spoken record.

911 Calls and Emergency Recordings

911 calls and emergency communications require a high level of care and attention. These recordings often involve emotional speakers, background noise, and fast-moving dialogue. B&A’s transcriptionists are experienced in transcribing 911 calls with accuracy, sensitivity, and professionalism.

We ensure that timing, speaker changes, and critical statements are clearly reflected, creating transcripts that are suitable for legal review, investigative use, or case preparation.

Transcription of Legal and Professional Work Product

In addition to court and emergency recordings, B&A transcribes a wide range of legal and professional work product, including:

  • Client interviews and recorded statements
  • Internal investigations
  • Law enforcement or administrative recordings
  • Business and corporate recordings

Our transcriptionists are familiar with legal terminology and professional standards, ensuring transcripts are both accurate and easy to navigate.

Skilled Transcriptionists, Rigorous Review

Audio transcription requires more than simply converting sound to text. B&A’s transcriptionists hold the CET (Certified Electronic Transcriber) credential from AAERT , and they understand how to interpret context, identify speakers, and resolve unclear audio whenever possible.

Each transcript undergoes a structured quality control process to verify accuracy, formatting, and completeness before delivery. Software assists where it helps, and a certified transcriptionist reviews and corrects every transcript before it goes out. This ensures a polished, reliable final product that attorneys and clients can rely upon.

Confidentiality and Security

Many audio recordings contain sensitive, confidential, or legally protected information. B&A adheres to strict confidentiality and data-handling protocols to safeguard all materials entrusted to us, and our transcriptionists treat every assignment with discretion and professionalism.

Flexible Turnaround Options

B&A offers dependable delivery timelines for audio transcription with standard and expedited options available depending on client needs and audio length. We work closely with clients to establish realistic timelines and ensure expectations are met.

Whether you need a transcript for case preparation, filing, review, or investigation, B&A delivers timely, accurate results.

Frequently asked questions

Not on its own. Software can produce a draft from clean audio, but it cannot reliably identify speakers, resolve crosstalk or catch a misheard legal term, and it does not know when it has got something wrong. At B&A, software assists the work, and a certified transcriptionist reviews and corrects every transcript before it is delivered. Our transcriptionists hold the AAERT CET credential, and a person is accountable for what goes out.

No. A deposition transcript is made by a certified court reporter who was present, swore the witness and certifies the record. A transcription is prepared afterward from an existing recording, so its accuracy depends on the audio. If testimony still needs to be taken, schedule a court reporter; if the recording already exists, we transcribe it.
