At B&A Litigation Services, we provide professional video-synchronized transcript services that seamlessly link the written transcript to the corresponding video testimony. This integration allows attorneys to search, review, designate, and present testimony with speed and precision. It is available with any deposition filmed through our legal videography service.

Video-synchronized transcripts combine the accuracy of a certified written record with the clarity of video, giving legal teams a more efficient way to work with testimony.

What Is a Video-Synchronized Transcript?

A video-synchronized transcript aligns each line of the written transcript with the exact moment it appears in the video recording. As the video plays, the transcript scrolls in real time, highlighting the corresponding text. Attorneys can also click on specific portions of the transcript to jump instantly to that point in the video.

This synchronization transforms testimony from a static record into an interactive, highly usable working record.

Why Attorneys Use Video-Synchronized Transcripts

Video-synchronized transcripts significantly streamline testimony review and preparation. Instead of searching through hours of video or flipping through transcripts manually, attorneys can locate key testimony instantly.

Key benefits include:

  • Fast, keyword-based searching of testimony
  • One-click access to corresponding video segments
  • Efficient preparation for depositions, hearings, and trial
  • Easier identification of impeachment and designation clips
  • Clear alignment between written and visual records

This efficiency is especially valuable in complex cases involving multiple witnesses, lengthy depositions, or expert testimony.

What You Receive

You receive the video, the certified transcript, and a synchronized file that links the two. B&A exports synchronized video in these formats:

DVT · CMS · MDB · XML · XMEF · PTS · PTF · LEF · VID · SRT · TXT

We also deliver a web viewer, which directs you to download a player through Sync Depo, so a colleague who does not run trial-presentation software can still open the synchronized transcript and watch the testimony alongside the text.

If your team or your trial consultant works in a particular program, tell us which one when you order and we will send the format it expects.

Where Synchronized Transcripts Are Used

Video-synchronized transcripts are commonly used for:

  • Video depositions
  • Expert witness testimony
  • Trial preservation depositions
  • Arbitration and mediation preparation
  • Trial playback and presentation

When testimony may be shown to a jury or decision-maker, synchronization ensures that video excerpts are accurate, precise, and easy to present. For exhibit-heavy testimony, pair sync with a picture-in-picture deposition so the clip shows the witness and the document together.

Order It Later, or for Another Agency's Video

Sync does not have to be ordered on the day. If the deposition is already over, you can order synchronization afterward and we will produce it from the video and the certified transcript.

We can also synchronize video another company recorded. If a deposition in your case was covered by a different agency and you need that testimony in the same searchable, clip-ready form as the rest of your file, send it to us.

Built on the Certified Transcript

B&A’s video-synchronized transcript services are designed to integrate smoothly with our court reporting and legal videography offerings. Because the transcript and video are produced within a coordinated workflow, synchronization is precise and reliable.

The text being synchronized is the certified transcript. In Washington, it is made by a state-certified court reporter who swore the witness, made the record as it happened, and signed the certification page. The videographer and the reporter go on and off the record together, which is why the words and the video line up. We use technology everywhere it helps.

This integration reduces delays, minimizes errors, and ensures consistency between the written and visual records.

Presenting Testimony at Trial or Mediation

Synchronized transcripts are a powerful presentation tool. During trial or mediation, attorneys can play video clips while displaying the corresponding transcript text, improving comprehension for judges, arbitrators, and juries.

This dual-format presentation is especially effective when dealing with complex testimony, technical explanations, or credibility issues, allowing viewers to both hear and read the testimony simultaneously.

Transcripts are reviewed carefully before synchronization, and all materials are handled securely and confidentially.

Frequently asked questions

It is the certified deposition transcript linked, line by line, to the matching moment in the video. As the video plays, the text scrolls and highlights with it. Click a line, or search a word, and the video jumps to that point. It turns hours of recorded testimony into something you can search like a document.

Automatic transcription produces text, not a certified transcript. The transcript we synchronize is made by a state-certified court reporter who was present, swore the witness and signed the certification page. Software helps align that transcript to the video. We use technology everywhere it helps.

The simplest time is when you schedule the video deposition, so the videographer and court reporter know sync is needed from the start. You can also order it after the deposition is over; send us the case and witness name and we will produce it from the video and the certified transcript.

Yes. If another agency covered a deposition in your case, send us the video and the transcript and we will synchronize it, so every deposition in the file can be searched and clipped the same way. Tell us which program your team uses and we will deliver the matching format.
