Summer has been a busy one at B&A Litigation Services, and one of our favorite days so far was spent outside the deposition room and on the golf course with members of Tacoma’s legal community.
On June 12, 2026, B&A joined the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association for the TPCBA Scramble + Golf Tournament at Highlands Golf Course in Tacoma.
The tournament brought together approximately 60 golfers for an afternoon of golf, conversation, and a little friendly competition. With a shotgun start and teams of four making their way around the course, we had the perfect opportunity to catch up with attorneys and other members of the local legal community as each group came through.
A B&A Hole With a Few Extras
Representing B&A for the day were owner and working court reporter Sarah Fitzgibbon, Resource Lead Justin Choi, and court reporters Christy Sheppard and Valerie Torgeson.
Because it turned out to be a very warm Tacoma day, we were especially glad we came prepared with freeze pops for golfers making their way around the course.
We also handed out B&A-branded golf towels and added a few personal touches that made the day feel especially B&A.
One of the biggest hits came courtesy of our own court reporter, April Cook, who brought her creativity to the event with a collection of beautiful golf-themed cookies. April created cookies shaped like golf clubs, golf balls, a polo shirt, and even a B&A trophy.

It was one of those details we loved because it was genuinely ours, made by a member of our own team and shared with people we work alongside throughout the year.
Keeping It Local
We also wanted our participation in the tournament to reflect something that matters a lot to us: supporting other local businesses.
B
&A has called Tacoma home since 1980, and we are proud of the relationships we have built here. When we were deciding what to bring to the tournament, we chose bottles of Woodinville Whiskey as giveaways. Supporting another Washington-based business felt like a natural fit for an event centered around our own local community.
Supporting local organizations and businesses is important to us because B&A has experienced firsthand what it means to grow alongside a community.
The Tacoma-Pierce County legal community has been part of our story for 46 years.
Getting Out of the Deposition Room
Court reporting is a relationship business, even if much of that relationship is built around depositions, hearings, transcripts, exhibits, deadlines, and scheduling.
Events like the TPCBA golf tournament give us a chance to connect in a different way.
Instead of meeting across a conference table or Zoom screen, we get to catch up on a golf course. We get to see longtime clients, meet attorneys we may not have worked with yet, introduce members of our team, and spend time with people who make up the broader Tacoma-Pierce County legal community.
We also brought along a photographer this year to capture the different foursomes as they came through our hole. It gave golfers a fun photo from the day and gave us the chance to document some of the people who made the event so enjoyable.
For us, those connections matter.
As a Tacoma-based court reporting firm that has served the legal community since 1980, we do not simply want to do business in Tacoma. We want to be an active part of the community that has supported our company for all these years.
That means supporting organizations like the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association, participating in local legal events, supporting neighboring businesses, and finding opportunities to spend time with the attorneys and legal professionals we work with throughout the year.
